Alfaisal University’s College of Science invites applications for a full-time assistant professor of English. While research and service are expected and supported, the job is teaching-focused: English professors are assigned approximately 12 hours of weekly classroom teaching (mostly within the first-year composition sequence). The position will begin in fall 2025, and responsibilities include lesson preparation, assisting with curriculum development and assessment, mentoring and advising students, attending staff meetings and workshops, and playing a full and active part in the life of the university. The university has a writing center as part of our Academic Success Center, a new writing-to-learn program, and a variety of burgeoning workshops and publications. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, Linguistics, or very closely related fields. The Ph.D. must have been earned on-site as a full-time student. Online or distance degrees are not acceptable. Additionally, well-qualified candidates will have a record of peer-reviewed publications and excellence in teaching. Positions will remain open until filled.
Duties will commence upon successful completion of the employment visa process for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position comes with a competitive salary package, benefits, and a one-year renewable contract.
