Synopsis

The Head of IT Governance and Data will lead and manage the organization's IT governance framework, data management strategies, and regulatory compliance efforts. This senior leadership role is pivotal in ensuring that the company’s IT systems, data practices, and policies align with industry standards, best practices, and legal requirements. The role will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of governance frameworks, risk management strategies, and data security protocols, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with relevant laws.
Accountabilities

IT Governance:

    Develop and implement a robust IT governance framework aligned with organizational objectives, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    Ensure that IT projects and systems are executed with a clear understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC).
    Collaborate with senior leadership to align IT initiatives with the overall business strategy and objectives.

Data Governance and Management:

    Lead the development and implementation of the data governance strategy, ensuring that data quality, integrity, and accessibility standards are met across the organization.
    Oversee data lifecycle management, including collection, storage, usage, sharing, and disposal, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, NESA etc.
    Ensure data privacy and protection policies are in place, aligning with industry standards and ensuring that organizational data is protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
    Promote data-driven decision-making across departments by implementing appropriate data management and analytics frameworks.

Compliance and Risk Management:

    Ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulatory requirements, including industry-specific regulations such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or ISO standards.
    Manage audits and assessments related to IT governance, data security, and regulatory compliance.
    Lead and manage any IT risk mitigation strategies, working closely with cross-functional teams to address potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

    Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, data analysts, and other specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
    Provide leadership and guidance in the development of staff competencies related to IT governance, data management, and security.
    Collaborate with other department heads and stakeholders to align IT governance and data management practices with broader organizational goals.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

    Continuously evaluate and improve IT governance and data management processes to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and security.
    Champion innovation and the integration of new technologies to enhance the organization’s IT governance and data management strategies.

Education & Experience

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
    Relevant certifications in IT Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001, CISSP, CISA, or CISM) are highly desirable.
    10+ years of experience in IT governance, data management, and compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
    Proven experience in developing and managing IT governance frameworks, risk management processes, and data governance strategies.
    Strong understanding of data protection laws and regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, NESA and other relevant frameworks.
    Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
